Year 10 Visit Oxford University - February 2017

A group of Year 10 students recently visited Oxford University for a taste of Uni life.  Year 10 student Megan Hill has written an account of the day below:

'A group of Year 10 students were recently invited to Oxford University for a pathways taster day. They were introduced to some of the things that you would expect from a university, such as new found independence. They were also informed as to why is it beneficial to go to university (it allows you to study your favorite subject in much more depth.)

They then spilt up the 5 schools and sent two groups to St Johns, one to St Mary’s and two others to Wadham. DSLV went to Wadham which is one of the older colleges. 3 workshops then took place which taught them about academic life (the types of learning that occurs in a university), social life (the types of things you can do outside of classes) and the transition to university. They learnt the pros and cons of a lecture and the different societies you can join. A great day was had by all'
