PHSE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic) (2015 - 2017)

PHSE is delivered to years 7 and 8 in lessons and curriculum enrichment days and to Years 9, 10, 11 and Sixth form through curriculum enrichment days and study time in registration through the tutor time frame-work.

British Values

The values identified are; democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs. This are delivered during PSHE lessons and are supported and complemented by assemblies, curriculum lessons, fund-raising activities, School Council, form time and drop-down days. The programme encourages students to respect the fundamental British values of democracy.

Topics covered in year 7 include;

  • Friendship
  • Risk
  • Healthy lifestyles, including puberty, hygiene, diet and smoking
  • Careers which includes the journey from school to career, the nature of work and job grouping and families
  • Citizenship

Topics covered in Year 8 include:

  • Relationships
  • Risk
  • Anti-smoking, alcohol, anti-bullying, the Delay programme
  • Economic well-being
  • Careers which includes researching careers effectively, understanding the labour market information, and challenging stereotypes.
  • Citizenship

Topics covered in Year 9 include:

  • Anti-social behaviour
  • Careers including beginning to develop their employability skills

Topics covered in Year 10 include:

  • Drugs awareness
  • Economic well-being
  • Careers

Year 11 and 12 students cover Economic well-being and careers.
